Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce Recipe

My husband and I have been working really hard to eat better (read: no added sugar or you know, death) and unfortunately that means finding an alternative to my favorite condiment; BBQ sauce. However when shopping around for a pre-made sugar-free BBQ sauce, they were all made with some stupid artificial sweeteners. Since my husband and I eat all natural and try to avoid man-made junk, these weren't an option for us. So I decided to look around and see if I could find a great recipe that would be a doable alternative. Unfortunately all of the recipes I found included Worcestershire sauce, which has molasses and sugar listed as the second and fourth ingredients so that wasn't an option. Hence (yeah, hence) I was left to my own devices to create my own sugar-free BBQ sauce. I must say, I'm pretty impressed with myself. Not to mention when I found out that I created a sauce that has 2.7 grams of carbs per serving (compared to the average 13 grams of carbs per same serving) I thought I had created something magical. Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients: 

1 14 oz can diced tomatoes

1/6 cup Balsamic Vinegar

1/6 cup Gluten - Free Soy Sauce

1/3 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

1.5 TBSP Yellow Mustard

1/4 tsp Minced Garlic

1 TBSP Onion Powder

1 TBSP Chili Powder

1.5 TBSP Paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper

1/2 TBSP Minced Dried Onions

1/2 tsp Truvia

Salt to taste

Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Transfer to a sauce pan and let simmer 30 minutes while whisking every few minutes. Let cool and enjoy with your favorite dish.
